Professor Alkhaddar has extensive experience in Water and Environmental Engineering, with special expertise in Wastewater Treatment methods. He graduated from the University of Basra, Iraq as a Civil Engineer and completed his MSc and PhD in Civil Engineering Hydraulics from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK.He is currently the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at LJMU where he manages 23 staff and over 780 students, who are on various courses such as HNC, BEng, MEng, MSc and PhD. The Department run fully accredited degrees by the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK and he led a number of these accreditations.

Paul is a leading figure in international and regional water issues and now serves as the President in his strategically-focused consulting company, ReiterIWS Ltd (HK) and ReiterIWS LLC (US). Paul and his partners help clients cope with the increasingly challenging set of issues facing the water community and other environmental infrastructure providers related to growth, urbanization/densification and climate change. Paul speaks around the world about these challenges and the potential innovative solutions needed to meet them.

Paul served as the Executive Director of IWA for more than ten years – an organization that serves as the global network for water professional with 10,000 members in 130 countries. Paul and his team of Ryan Yuen, Tao Lee, Rose Lang, and others, worked together to build the IWA Asia-Pacific network that we know and appreciate today.

Paul has over 30 years of experience in water industry knowledge brokering, utility project innovation and utility management in the areas of water, electricity and solid waste. Through this period, Paul has worked as a utility leader, private consultant and association director.

Professor How Yong Ng is a Provost Chair’s Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He also currently serves as the Director of the NUS Environmental Research Institute and the Director of the Sembcorp-NUS Corporate Laboratory. His research focuses on biological treatment processes including modelling, membrane bioreactor and microbial fuel cell for water reuse and energy recovery. He had contributed to more than 350 publications in referred international journals and conference papers. Professor Ng is an Associate Editor of Water Research and an Editor of the Journal of Water Reuse and Desalination. He is a Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA) and is currently the Vice-Chair of the IWA Membrane Technology Specialist Group (MTSG) and the President of the Environmental Engineering Society of Singapore (EESS).

Mr Wyeth graduated from Portsmouth University in 1991 with a Master of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering. He has 27 years experience in the water industry, with 24 of those years whilst working in South-East Asia. During this period Mr Wyeth has gained member status of the CIWEM (UK), is a Chartered Engineer, has gained a Graduate Diploma in International Operational Management and is the current Secretary of the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group. Mr Wyeth Started his career as a network modeling engineer for Biwater International and through this built up an expertise in how water supply systems operate. He then moved into NRW management, with Thames Water International and Ranhill Water Systems, gaining further expertise in leakage control, DMZ design & implementation, system monitoring, customer metering and production metering. He also established the APAC regional office for i2O Water, specialists in advanced pressure management, where he was APAC managing director for 4 years. He is currently the Managing Director of Wyeth Water Consultants a Malaysian based NRW Management Company.

The Hon Karlene Maywald is the Managing Director of Maywald Consultants Pty Ltd and Chair of the International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM). Karlene has extensive experience in leading water reform as a Minister, and over sighting water reform as the Chair of the National Water Commission (2012 until 2015) providing advice on water reform to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) and the Commonwealth Government of Australia. She was representative for the seat of Chaffey in the South Australian House of Assembly from October 1997 until March 2010. During her tenure, from 2004 until 2010, she was South Australia’s Minister for Water Security and the River Murray leading reforms during one of the worst drought periods in Australia’s living memory

Nadia Lund has a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark from 2016. Currently, she is finalizing her PhD on how we can improve urban drainage management by applying traditional and emerging data sources as well as water system interlinkages in real-time models. She furthermore sits in the board of Young Water Professional Denmark (YWPDK). YWPDK provides a platform for young professionals to build a network within the water sector across different fields of expertise, assists them in developing their professional skills and profiles, and provides them with the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences.

Stuart Stapely is a chartered water infrastructure professional with over 20 years of best practice specialist knowledge in non-revenue water reduction and water civil engineering. His is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects across Australasia. He is a member of the Project Management Institute and is a certified Project Management Professional. Stuart’s experience has been developed from the ground level up. He has the full range of non-revenue water skills from active leakage control and field monitoring through to designing water loss management strategies and auditing water authorities. Stuart is an active member of the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group since 2002.
